Binary Goals with Hopenager, and Kickstarting an 18 Card Game with Adam Wilk

This is one of our longer episodes, coming in at 1 hour 10 minutes, and it’s chock full of both theory and practice! For the theory bit, check out my conversation with Hopenager, a game developer and frequent chatter over at the kbgames discord, wherein we talk about binary goals versus score goals. Hopenager believes score goals provide more feedback (given that it’s a number rather than just a bit) and I believe binary goals provide much clearer feedback. Who is right?! Let us know in the comments!

On the more practice side, my conversation with Adam Wilk surrounded the development and publication of his new 18 card strategy game, which is now being Kickstarted to the tune of 10k+ (and counting!). That kickstarter has a couple days left so if you haven’t checked it out yet, please do!

As I mention in the podcast, about a month or so from now I will be launching a Kickstarter of my own for DRAGON BRIDGE, so probably there won’t be any new podcasts for the next month or two. The last couple of months have pumped out a lot of Clockwork Game Design Podcast content though, so I hope you’ll be alright. And after the Kickstarter is over, we’ll be back of course.

Stay tuned here for more information about the Kickstarter, and sign up for my new MAILING LIST (it’ll have some cool content that you can only see there, or as a Patron).

Thanks for listening!
